JAMES TAICLET
Chief Executive Officer
Jim Taiclet was named Chief Executive Officer
in October 2003 and Chairman of the Board in February 2004,
succeeding Steve Dodge in both of these roles. He was appointed
President and Chief Operating Officer of American Tower Corporation
in September 2001. He is a member of the FCC Media Security and
Reliability Council and serves on the Board of Directors of PCIA,
the principal trade association for the wireless infrastructure
industry. Taiclet joined American Tower from Honeywell
International, where as President of Honeywell Aerospace Services,
he led a global organization of 10,000 employees providing aircraft
equipment repair, part distribution, logistics, and space operations
services. Prior to Honeywell, Taiclet served as Vice President,
Engine Services at Pratt & Whitney, a unit of United
Technologies Corporation. He was also previously a consultant at
McKinsey & Company, specializing in telecommunications and
aerospace. Taiclet began his career as an Air Force officer and
pilot and served in the Gulf War. He holds a Masters Degree in
Public Affairs from Princeton University, where he was a Wilson
Fellow, and is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air
Force Academy.
TOM BARTLETT
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Tom Bartlett was named Chief Financial Officer
on April 1, 2009. Prior to joining the company, Bartlett served as
Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller with Verizon
Communications. In this role, he was responsible for corporate-wide
accounting, tax planning and compliance, SEC financial reporting,
budget reporting and analysis, and capital expenditures planning
functions. He also served as both Chief Compliance Officer and
Principal Accounting Officer for Verizon. In his nearly 25 years
with Verizon and its predecessor organizations, Bartlett held a
number of leadership positions both in the U.S. and abroad. He
served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Atlantic
International Wireless, responsible for all wireless activities in
Latin America, Europe and Asia, and was also an area President in
Verizon’s U.S. wireless business responsible for all operational
aspects in both the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Bartlett has
also held roles as Senior Vice President and Treasurer as well as
Senior Vice President in Investor Relations. He earned his MBA from
Rutgers University and holds a degree in engineering from Lehigh
University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
JEAN A. BUA
Executive Vice President, Finance and Treasurer
Jean A. Bua joined
American Tower in August 2005 and was named Executive Vice
President, Finance and Corporate Controller in February 2007. Prior
to joining the company, Bua was with Iron Mountain, Inc., a global
records management and data protection services company, where she
served as Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and
Worldwide Controller. From 1993 to 1996, Bua was Corporate
Controller for Duracraft Corporation, an international consumer
products manufacturer. Prior to joining Duracraft, she was Assistant
Controller for Keithley Instruments, a high-tech hardware and
software company, from 1991 to 1993. Bua was previously a management
consultant for Ernst & Young and an auditor for KPMG. She is a
Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of
Rhode Island.
ED DISANTO
Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer
and General Counsel
Ed DiSanto was named Executive Vice President,
Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel on March 13, 2007.
DiSanto came to American Tower from Pratt & Whitney, a unit of
United Technologies Corporation and a leader in the design,
manufacture and service of aircraft engines, industrial gas turbines
and space propulsion systems. DiSanto started with Pratt &
Whitney in 1997 as Group Deputy Counsel and since then has held
legal and business development roles of increasing responsibility,
most recently as Vice President, Global Service Partners Business
Development. Prior to joining Pratt & Whitney, DiSanto served in
a number of legal, business and operations roles at United Dominion
Industries, Carrier Corporation and United Technologies Corporation.
DiSanto earned his law degree from Boston College Law School and a
Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University.
HAL HESS
Executive Vice President, International Operations and
President, Latin America
Hal Hess is American Tower's Executive Vice
President, International Operations and President, Latin America. As
of March 9, 2009, he is also responsible for development in our
Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) territory. From 2002 to 2007,
he was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. He
initially joined American Tower in March 2001 as Chief Financial
Officer of American Tower International, and was appointed Executive
Vice President of American Tower Corporation in June 2001. Prior to
American Tower, Hess was a partner in the corporate and finance
group of the law firm King & Spalding, where he focused on
mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters for
telecommunications and infrastructure companies. Prior to attending
law school, Hess practiced as a Certified Public Accountant with
Arthur Young & Co. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt
University and is a graduate of Harding University.
STEVEN MARSHALL
Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Tower Division
Steven Marshall was named Executive Vice President and President, U.S. Tower Division in
March 2009. He initially joined American Tower as the Executive Vice
President, International Business Development in November 2007.
Prior to joining American Tower, Marshall was the CEO of National
Grid Wireless, the market leading telecommunications and broadcast
infrastructure provider in the United Kingdom. During this period,
he also served on the boards of Digital UK, the government body
responsible for analogue to digital switchover in the UK, and on the
board of Freeview, the UK free-to-air digital broadcasting
organization. Prior to this, Marshall was Executive Chairman of
Intelig, the alternative national long distance telecommunications
operator in Brasil; non-executive chairman of Silica Networks in
Argentina and a non-executive Director of Manquéhue Net, Chile.
Intelig was a joint venture between Sprint, France Telecom and
National Grid Plc. Before these appointments, Marshall was
responsible for National Grid Plc’s international business
development. He has a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Building and Civil
Engineering from Manchester University, England and an MBA from
Manchester Business School, England.
AMIT SHARMA
Executive Vice President and President, Asia
Amit Sharma joined American Tower in September 2007 as the company’s Executive Vice
President, Asia and President of its Asian subsidiary. Prior to
joining American Tower, Sharma led country teams in India and
Southeast Asia for Motorola, as Country President, India and as Head
of Strategy, Asia-Pacific. He also served on Motorola’s Asia Pacific
Board and was a member of its senior leadership team. Prior to
joining Motorola, Sharma was with GE Capital, serving as Vice
President, Strategy and Business Development. Prior to that, he
spent time with McKinsey, New York, serving as a core member of the
firm's Electronics and Marketing Practices. He currently serves as a
director of NIIT Technologies Limited and is on the India Advisory
Board for NEA – a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
Sharma earned his MBA in International Business from the Wharton
School, University of Pennsylvania, and holds an MS in Computer
Science from the Moore School, University of Pennsylvania, and a
Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian
Institute of Technology.
