American Tower Partners with Warriors 4 Wireless in Its Mission to Support Transitioning Military
In late 2013, American Tower embarked on a partnership with Warriors 4 Wireless (W4W), a non-profit organization that supports servicemen and women in their transition from the military to civilian careers in the wireless industry.
To start, the Company collaborated on the design and implementation of the W4W tower training and certification program at Aiken Technical College in South Carolina. The five-week program offers participants hands-on instruction in wireless technology basics, cell site components, antenna basics, basic rigging, principles of electricity, fiber optics training, fall protection and spectrum management. In addition, American Tower maintains an active link with the program to provide qualified W4W certificate program graduates with potential job opportunities at American Tower.
The Company is pleased to continue this partnership and support W4W in its mission. CEO Jim Taiclet said, “As a former Air Force officer, pilot and Gulf War veteran, I know how important it is to proactively reach out and support our military personnel as they navigate the transition from active service to civilian employment. The telecommunications industry is a logical landing place for many of our veterans in light of their technical skills, and we are proud to be a part of the Warriors 4 Wireless initiative.”
