At Mobile World Congress Americas

Come learn about our alliance with Philips Lighting

American Tower announced our alliance with Philips Lighting earlier this week, and our first venture is displayed at Mobile World Congress Americas at Booth #N.108. If you’re in San Francisco for the show, please stop by the booth to see me.

Our booth includes an aesthetically designed smart pole that combines wireless network coverage and energy-efficient LED lighting for streets and parking lots.

We specifically designed our booth to look like a small portion of a park within a city to show how our pole would blend beautifully into any cityscape.

We’re also demonstrating our Smart Pole Locator, a tool that identifies locations where we have access to turn existing light poles into smart poles in Los Angeles. Our Smart Pole Locator will allow wireless carriers to easily find available locations, see site details and quickly export information for a closer analysis.

There are approximately 44 million light poles on streets and roadways in North America, according to Strategies Unlimited. Of these, less than one percent are connected and less than 13% have converted to LED. This provides a huge opportunity for us to help cities become smarter, while allowing us access to hundreds of thousands of locations for telecommunications.

Stop by our booth and check out our new smart pole. And keep your eyes on this blog for more news about our alliance with Philips Lighting.
