American Tower is committed to ensuring our communications real estate—approximately 180,000 sites in 19 countries across five continents—supports the wireless voice and broadband networks that keep us connected. With increased reliance on mission-critical communications as we manage the COVID-19 pandemic on a global level, American Tower must ensure access to vitally important information, while protecting the safety and health of all our stakeholders. This unwavering commitment to corporate responsibility is at the heart of how we do business at American Tower.
Our global teams are adhering to social distancing guidelines, while performing all essential activities to ensure our tenants and vendors have safe access to our assets. In addition, our employees have been equipped to effectively work from home, so we can continue to deliver high-quality service. We are taking extra sanitation measures, providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety items to our field personnel, while hosting discussion forums on health and safety, wellness, and training for our employees.
Access to our owned, managed, and leased properties remains open nearly everywhere. We are adhering to the continuing needs of our tenants and vendors, while recognizing additional safety controls or closures implemented in certain jurisdictions or by property owners. We’ve also continued to monitor assets and respond to critical events through our remote operations.
Through our American Tower Foundation, we have assisted communities in need during the pandemic and have made grants to organizations focused on supporting COVID-19 response and aid efforts, including the American Red Cross, UNICEF, Project Hope, Partners in Health Organization, Boston Resiliency Fund, PM CARES Fund (India), and many more. Our Foundation has recently committed an additional $2 million to support global relief efforts. In addition, people and teams around our global organization are volunteering their time to help their local communities—from delivering food and PPE to those in need, to making donations to organizations providing COVID-19 relief.
As an essential service provider, American Tower stands poised to provide the infrastructure necessary to support the growing demand for wireless services around the globe, and we’re sharing information and collaborating with other industry leaders, policy organizations, and governments as we work together to slow the spread and mitigate the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mneesha joined American Tower in 2005 and currently focuses on corporate governance and compensation matters, sustainability, public disclosures and investor outreach, securities law matters, risk management, and public affairs initiatives.
When you choose to work with American Tower, we want to ensure you feel continually supported. Our teams take customer service seriously, and we are committed to providing a positive experience to every customer, every time.
